Officers and soldiers from the Border Post No563 have put into operation a water supply system for local residents in a remote area in Laos.
Local people in Na Pe Commune, Cam Cot District, in Laos’s PolyKhamxay Province, 20km away from Cau Treo border gate used to run short of water for domestic use and production because water from local streams was polluted.
Lieutenant-Colonel Vo Trong Hai, Head of the Border Post No563, proposed to build a pipeline to lead water from upstream to the area.
Vietnamese border soldiers cooperated with local authorities and people in the Laotian commune to build a 7,820m water pipe. Water from upstream will flow along the pipe to a big tank before coming to each household.
162 households with 1,070 local residents have benefited from the project.
Earlier, border soldiers from the International Cau Treo border gate built a clinic for Laotian people.
