This year, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command’s Party Committee has directed its affiliated units to strictly implement the directives and orders of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND), actively grasp the situation at sea, make recommendations to higher levels on policies related to the protection of national sovereignty over sea and islands, fight against crime, and those against laws and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Meanwhile, the Party Committee has also directed the units to mobilize troops to regularly perform patrols so as to firmly protect the national sovereignty over sea and islands, implement search and rescue missions, while working with relevant forces to ensure order at sea.
In 2023, the unit will promote troops’ observance of military discipline, focus on administrative reform, so as to build a strong Party Committee, and direct troops to accomplish all assigned missions.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hailed the unit’s achievements over the past years, requesting the unit to continue focusing on making recommendations to the CMC and MND about protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands, and raising combat readiness quality.
It should also promote a pioneering role in upholding law enforcement and protecting order at sea, contributing to accomplish all assigned missions in the coming time, the general added.
