PANO - The exchanges between border guards and other forces of Vietnam and China were discussed on March 10th during the talks between visiting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Lieutenant General Qi Jianguo.
General Vinh is leading a Vietnamese Defence Ministry's delegation to China to join the border friendship exchange between Vietnam and China, opened on the morning of March 10th in Dongxing city, Guangxi province, China.
In an open and straight atmosphere, the two sides agreed that the border friendship exchange was meaningful to implement the outcomes of dialogues and meetings between the two defence ministries’ leaders, boost mutual trust and understanding, and also important to consolidate solidarity and efficient cooperation between local authorities, residents and border guards.
The two sides also reached agreements on activities to raise residents’ awareness of the fruitful Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, maintaining the Vietnam-China border friendship exchange and other exchanges at lower levels, promoting cooperation and twinning ties of border areas, duplicating good examples on the border work and establishing direct communication lines between border guard units to contribute to the border of peace, stability, cooperation and long-term development.
At the talks, General Vinh said that Vietnam’s air force, navy, marine police and residents are resolved to search for the missing plane of Malaysia Airlines, with many Chinese residents on board, together with other forces of participating countries.
In the afternoon of the same day, in their visit to Company 1, Battalion 1, Border Regiment 1 of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, the delegation was briefed on the unit’s training work. On the occasion, the delegation planted friendship trees and took photos.
