Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong presents the first prize to Lieutenant General Le Phuc Nguyen. |
According to the organizers, articles highlight unforgettable memories of writers and the main characters of the articles during their study and work and their deep love for the former Soviet Union and present Russia as well as symbolic structures of the two countries’ partnership such as the President Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, Vietnam-Russia tropical center, Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture (Vietsovpetro) and Thang Long bridge. In addition, many articles have confirmed that training cooperation is a bright spot in the bilateral defense cooperation.
One of those whose life is partly attached to Russia and the Russian language is Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, one of the first Vietnamese pilots to learn how to pilot Su-27 fighter jets in Russia. His love for the Russian language was inspired by his father, veteran diplomat Vo Van Sung, the first Vietnamese ambassador to France. Sung had a good command of French, but studied Russian language by himself. Another subject of an awarded article is Le Thanh Ba, aged 86, former Chairman of Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province. Ba was fluent in French, however, he was assigned to join a short course on the Russian language to become a good interpreter and translator.
At the event, the organizers awarded one first, two second, three third, and ten consolation prizes to the top articles.
The first prize went to the article “My teacher” written by Lieutenant General Le Phuc Nguyen, former Editor-in-Chief of the PAN, and alumni of the Faculty of Journalism of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The organizers also presented certificates to fourteen authors whose articles got high points in the final round and certificates of merit to the seven groups with the most participants.
The contest has helped honor the great and effective contributions of generations of leaders of the two countries and militaries to build, consolidate, and enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership of Vietnam and Russia.
