Sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don concludes 2,600-nautical-mile voyage
PANO – On May 18, Sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don and the 119-member mission on board arrived in Nha Trang Port, in Khanh Hoa province, concluding the sea training program and visits to and exchanges with Indonesian and Singaporean naval forces.
A solemn ceremony under the chair of Naval Captain Phan Van Dien, Deputy Commissar of the Vietnam Naval Academy, was held at the port to welcome back the mission, led by Naval Captain Nguyen Duc Nam, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Naval Academy.
Departing from Nha Trang Port on April 15, the vessel traveled a distance of more than 2,600 nautical miles. During the one-month long voyage, trainees of the Vietnam Naval Academy successful completed all contents in the sea training program, which aimed to raise troops’ practical knowledge, skills, and competence to effectively fulfill assigned missions after graduation.
In addition, the exchanges with the two foreign navies were carefully and solemnly conducted, contributing to strengthening mutual understanding, trust, and solidarity between the Vietnam People’s Navy and Singapore’s and Indonesia’s navies.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Naval Academy presented certificates of merit to crew-members on board Sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don and 13 individuals with great contributions to the success of the voyage, and presented the “Ocean-going Sailor” Insignia to 97 individuals in acknowledgement of their good performance in the sea training program and external relations.
