In a meeting with representatives of the school, President Phuc, who is also Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, emphasized that party and political work is the soul and lifeblood of the Vietnam People’s Army.

The school has trained over 30,000 political cadres and many other officers of the military and the people's public security force in Party and political work as well as national defense and security education.

Political cadres trained at the school have greatly contributed to the cause of building a politically-strong military, improving the quality and effectiveness of Party and political work, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, Marxism - Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's Thought in the whole military, the President said.

The task of protecting the nation and building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military poses increasingly higher requirements, he said, stressing that the school needs to reform, standardize, and modernize its curriculum and training forms and methods to ensure their graduates meet standards in knowledge and skills, especially soft skills in management and ideological orientation for soldiers and officers.

The school must maintain the role as one of the core forces in researching theoretical and practical issues, and applying the Party's viewpoints and guidelines to strengthen the Party's leadership over the military, defense tasks, and military building in the new situation, the President said.
