Military Library presents books to Hall of Fame of Military Region 8’s political officers
PANO – The Military Library held a ceremony on February 21 to present 500 books on President Ho Chi Minh, literature, farming techniques, as well as on the Southwestern localities and their people to the Hall of Fame of the Political Department of Military Region 8 in Nhon Ninh commune, Long An province’s Tan Thanh district.
At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, handed over a portrait bust of President Ho Chi Minh to the unit while the provincial Department of Justice presented the hall 100 books about laws.
Established last year, the Hall of Fame of the military region’s Political Department is showcasing 300 photos, documents, items, and books about the history of the unit from 1946 to 1976. The project aims to pay gratitude to local authorities’ and people’s assistance during the resistance war for national independence as well as generations of the unit’s political troops.
Senior Colonel Tran Thi Bich Hue, the library’s Director said that though these books may not be very significant in value, they reflect the great sentiment of the library’s staff for the unit. She hoped that these gifts will help build the hall of fame into a reliable address for troops and students to learn about history of Southern people and armed forces, promote reading habit and improve local people’s cultural lives.
