Newly-appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff undertakes mission
PANO – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong on January 9 chaired a meeting to hand over his mission to Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, who has just been appointed as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
Recently, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong has been promoted to Deputy Defense Minister from the post of Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Cuong, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia takes over the mission of his predecessor and be in charge of instructing the implementation of force building, military training, and quality-measurement standards in the military.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong gave general information about the the functions and missions that his successor will take on and should implement in the time to come.
He also hoped that in his new position, Lieutenant General Nghia will promote his leadership over agencies under the General Staff and direct military units to well perform the spheres under his leadership and improve the quality and effectiveness of their staff work.
