In the opening speech, President of the National Defense Academy Senior Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa said that in actualizing the Party’s guideline on national protection and defense cause, the academy has constantly renewed itself to enhance the quality of training and scientific research, gradually strengthened a contingent of high-quality cadres and instructors, and built the academy into a leading training, research and military art and science development center of the military and the country and a prestige unit in the region and the world.
In the 2021-2022 academic year, the unit actively and comprehensively carried out training and research missions and others and adjusted its plans and methods in line with guidelines on safe adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the quality of the National Defense Academy’s training work was enhanced.
In the academic year, the unit organized 25 concentrated training courses for 786 people and conducted various scientific research projects with theoretical and practical values, contributing to augmenting training quality. Those research projects served as scientific arguments to advise the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense to plan, supplement, and perfect guidelines and policies on national defense, security, and national protection in the new situation.

In addition, the foreign affairs continued to expand in an intensive, practical and effective manner, importantly contributing to the international integration process of the Party and State, and expansion of defense diplomacy. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the academy sent delegations to study abroad and attend seminars in foreign countries. At the same time, it also welcomed nearly 100 defense officials to visit and work at the academy, helping popularize the Vietnamese Party and State's defense and military guidelines and viewpoints to international friends.
On behalf of leaders of the Party and the State, N.A. Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue wished the National Defense Academy’s personnel good health, creativity, and success.
N.A. Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue acknowledged that over the past years, the National Defense Academy has thoroughly embraced and strictly implemented the Party’s resolutions, directives, and guidelines and the State’s policies and exerted utmost efforts to fulfill all assigned missions.
Notably, the unit has actively and strictly changed its training objectives from military to defense and security thinking and focused on raising capability of officers at the operational and strategic levels, contributing to building a contingent of senior cadres of the Party, State and military to meet the task requirements in the new development stage of the country.
Praising achievements and efforts of the academy’s personnel over the past years, the N.A. Chairman said that the national protection cause in the new situation is posing many problems. In order to successfully complete the assigned tasks in the coming time, the top legislator requested the National Defense Academy to better perform the task of training senior cadres of the Party, State, and the armed forces.
In the short-term, he asked the academy to seriously actualize the Resolution on the national protection strategy in the new situation, inherit and creatively apply former generations’ national protection and military arts, and make recommendations on national defense strategy, security, military, and national protection to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense.
He urged the unit to thoroughly study the Party’s guideline on socio-economic development in combination with national defense and security consolidation and external relations.

N.A. Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized the need to build a contingent of cadres, instructors, and scientists with stance, professional competence, and strategic thinking, accelerate the modernization and application of science technology, and raise the material and spiritual life of the academy’s personnel.
The N.A. leader strongly believed that with 45-year traditions and a contingent of cadres and instructors with professional competence, firm political stance, enthusiasm, high political responsibility, and determination, the National Defense Academy will excellently fulfill assigned missions in the 2022-2023 academic year, deserving to be a leading training and research center on national defense, security, and military of the country.
