Notably, the units embraced and strictly carried out resolutions and directives from the Party and the State, the Central Military Commission, and the MND on military-defense tasks. They also focused on building firm defensive areas, coordinated with other forces to protect Vietnam's sovereignty over the seas and islands, and prevented crime. The military units maintained a combat readiness posture at all levels, effectively implemented the “Coast guards stand by fishermen" program, helped local people build new-style rural areas, as well as overcame the consequences of natural disasters.
Regarding the units’ missions for 2020, General Cuong asked their Party Committees and Chain-of-Commands to continue to realize their set targets in 2020, closely collaborate with local authorities to strengthen the all-people defense and security posture, and actively follow and promptly handle unexpected situations.
He also noted that the units should prepare for Party congresses at all levels, promote the mass mobilization work, the defense external affairs, and prevent the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) from spreading.
