In addition, the MR should instruct its units and agencies to complete combat plans, strictly maintain combat readiness, conduct training programs as scheduled and raise training quality.

The request was made by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense, while attending the eighth conference of the Military Region 4 Party Committee on January 9.

Acknowledging the achievements obtained by MR 4’s armed forces, General Giang added that the MR should prepare and be ready for natural disaster prevention and mitigation missions, promote leadership over the implementation of defensive area exercises at all levels in line with the real situation of the localities, and ensure logistic and technical services for training, combat readiness and natural disaster prevention and mitigation missions.

According to reports delivered at the meeting, last year MR 4 closely cooperated with local leaderships in carrying out military and defense missions and fulfilled all assigned missions. The unit obtained remarkable achievements in following local situation, dealing with circumstances to ensure political security and public order, conducting training programs, exercises and festivals, and carrying out defense external affairs.

The same day, General Giang visited and inspected the Nghe An provincial Military and Border Guard Commands.  Briefed on the commands’ task implementation over the past time, General Giang asked the units to strictly maintain combat readiness, pay attention to raising training quality, make preparations for the enlistment drive and training in 2019 and ensure troops to have a healthy, safe and economical lunar New Year festival.
