MND, Ministry of Public Security step up collaboration
PANO - On January 5, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the Ministry of Public Security co-held a teleconference to review and boost the implementation of Decree 77/2010/ND-CP of the Government.
Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Defense Minister, and Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, co-chaired the meeting.

The event was also attended by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, and others from 88 units across the country.
Under the leadership of the two ministries and the close collaboration with local authorities and relevant agencies, the two forces well implemented Decree No.77 and Circular No.07 over the past year, contributing to ensuring absolute safety for socio-political and cultural events and external affairs of the country as well as maintaining political stability and social order for the country's development.
Addressing the meeting, General Giang stressed that the two ministries would continue tightening their collaboration in 2017 with focus on building plans to firmly protect important facilities and guarantee security for major cultural, political and social events as well as international meetings in the country.
He also suggested that the two sides should keep a closer watch on fighting crimes, especially drug-related ones, cyber-attack and human trafficking. He noted that the two sides' relevant organs must keep track of and promptly prevent drug trafficking along the Northwestern borderline while increasingly inspecting the illegal possessing and transferring of explosives, such as cracker or weapons during the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival.
In addition, he suggested affiliated units of the two sides to regularly hold training exercises to uphold their combined strength, provide timely advice for local authorities to complete plans for combat readiness, contributing to building a whole-people defense posture in line with a firm people's security posture.
