Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the Board for Women Advancement under the MND, chaired the event.

At the meeting, Senior Colonel Phung Thi Phu, Head of the Military Advisory Women’s Board, reported that in the first half of this year, despite many difficulties, the women’s advancement and gender equality work in the military was carried out comprehensively and  intensively, focusing on the action plan “For women’s advancement and gender equality in the 2021-2025 period.”

Attentively, the work reaped remarkable results, including the embracement and effective implementation of higher levels’ resolutions, directives, and guidance on female cadre work. Female cadres accounted for 3.02% of the total number of the cadres (0.02% higher than the target of the action plan); newly-admitted female Party members made up 8.98% of the total number of new Party members (0.54% higher than the same period in 2021); the percentage of female Party members participating in party committees at all levels reached 2.91%. In addition, 100% of the MND’s affiliated agencies and units had women representatives in advisory councils and inspection teams on issues related to women and children.

At the event, delegates clarified attainments, pointed out shortcomings, and proposed measures to boost the work.

In his concluding speech, General Vinh asked the Board for Women's Advancement to continue to effectively carry out the Party’s guideline, and the State’s policies and laws, the Central Military Commission and MND’s resolutions, directives, and instructions on the work.

The deputy defense minister also urged the board to raise information dissemination quality to improve awareness of gender equality and gender equality-related law enforcement.

It should boost the leadership over the implementation of policies and laws on gender equality, especially for military women, and further support for needy women to improve their living standards and develop household economy.
