The report presented at the meeting affirmed that in the first month of 2025, under the direction of the General Staff, the whole military has effectively completed all assigned tasks. Notably, agencies and units have strictly maintained combat readiness status, kept close track of the situation, provided timely advice, and effectively handled situations in a timely manner, contributing to firmly safeguarding the national sovereignty. They have closely coordinated in maintaining public order in localities and at important events of the nation.

The General Staff directed the military to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party Secretariat, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of National Defense’s directives on combat readiness and organization of the lunar New Year festival; the Chief of the General Staff’s order regarding military and defense work in 2025. Under the direction, the military has made thorough preparations for training and recruitment in 2025 in accordance with regulations. Additionally, forces and vehicles have been mobilized to respond to natural disasters, search and rescue operations in various regions.
Concluding the conference, General Cuong lauded the whole military’s task accomplishment over the past time and pointed out shortcomings that need addressing in the future.
He also requested the whole military to maintain strict combat readiness status; keep a firm grasp of the situation, especially in key areas, in the East Sea (South China Sea), in border areas, and the Southwestern waters; provide timely advice to effectively handle situations. Military units should also coordinate with the police force to maintain security and order throughout the country, especially during the lunar New Year 2025 and the 95th anniversary of the foundation day of the Communist Party of Vietnam; issue plans on ensuring combat readiness during the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam. He also emphasized the need to research and revise operational documents, complete amendments to orders and directives regarding combat readiness for both the military and the militia force, and ensure logistical supplies for combat readiness tasks.
The Chief of the General Staff highlighted the importance of closely monitoring and managing border areas, conducting patrols to prevent and deal with violations of immigration laws. Units must strengthen dissemination and patrols and prevent foreign ships from violating or encroaching upon Vietnamese territorial waters. Coordinated measures must be implemented to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing activities.
General Cuong added that the military should continue carrying out the plan on streamlining the military. In addition, units should maintain strict readiness for search and rescue operations at all levels, monitor the situation closely, and propose timely measures to effectively respond to natural disasters and diseases, conduct search and rescue operations. The entire military must prepare well for training in 2025, maintain strict discipline, and ensure traffic safety. All units must well carry out their New Year activities for troops and prepare for the upcoming military recruitment.
