General Staff gathers former leaders on foundation day

The event was chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister.

At the ceremony, delegates recalled the historical traditions of the General Staff over the past time. Generations of troops of the General Staff have always been united, striving to overcome all difficulties and achieve many resounding feats-of-arms, significantly contributing to the national construction and defense cause.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his gratitude to former leaders of the General Staff, heroes, war martyrs and revolutionary contributors. He reaffirmed that generations of personnel of the General Staff have always actively studied, forecast and provided timely recommendations for the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense to deal with defense-military issues.

General Cuong also briefed delegates on several contents related to the regional and international situations, the socio-economic developement, and outcomes of the military-defense tasks of the General Staff over the past time.

Regarding the military-defense tasks, the General Staff has enhanced direction and inspection on its affiliated units with a focus on maintaining combat readiness, forecasting all situations, and providing appropriate advice for higher levels’ leaderships to create suitable policies on military-defense affairs.

Also, troops of the General Staff have actively joined the COVID-19 prevention and control, search and rescue missions, and other tasks, contributing to promoting the unit’s traditions, beautifying the images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and firmly safeguarding the Fatherland in any circumstances.

General Cuong hoped that former leaders of the General Staff will continue contributing their opinions to building strong units, deserving the trust of the Party, State, military and people.
