Present at the event were Secretary of the Thanh Hoa provincial Party Committee Nguyen Doan Anh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Pham Truong Son, representatives from functional agencies under the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region 4 Command.
Over the past time, the Party Committee of Thanh Hoa province has led and directed its affiliates to focus resources on developing the province into a new growth pole in the North, promote the province’s potential and advantages and take opportunities. As a result, the province has gained many achievements in different aspects.
Last year, despites many challenges, the province met almost all of its targets with 13 targets getting higher results. The dissemination work was improved to raise the awareness of cadres, Party members and people from all walks of life about the key strategic position of the province in defense and security. In addition, attainments were seen in the performance of military and defense tasks, the building of the whole-people defense disposition, the strong whole-people defense posture coupled with the people’s security posture as well as firm defensive areas, particularly in border areas and major localities.
Attentively, the province has completed the arrangement of its political apparatus according to the Party Central Committee’s directions and orientations.
In his speech, Gen. Giang highly appreciated the important achievements and great efforts of the Party Organization, authorities, troops and people of Thanh Hoa province.
To meet its socio-economic development targets while strengthening defense and security in the time ahead, Gen. Giang asked the provincial Party Committee to pay due attention to Party building and rectification, development of a healthy and strong political system, promotion of solidarity and unity in Party organization, and enhancement of the people’s trust in the Party and authorities.
The province was also requested to bring into play its good outcomes, ensure that developing socio-economy is closely combined with defense and security consolidation, and improve the quality of education and provision of defense and security knowledge for different groups of people.
Gen. Giang also asked for good State management over defense at all levels, building comprehensively-strong armed forces with high combat readiness and effective and timely response to any contingencies in order to ensure a stable and favorable environment for local socio-economic development. The province should also keep a close watch on situational developments to give timely solutions and spoil any plots or acts of sabotage of hostile forces.
He urged the Military Region 4 Command and Thanh Hoa provincial authorities to give suggestions to the Ministry of National Defense on re-organizing local military agencies since those at district-level are removed.
On the occasion, he assigned the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) to giving financial support to the province to build 500 houses to replace local substandard houses.
