Over the past 45 years, the general department has made great efforts to overcome difficulties and uphold and promote its tradition, and was presented with two Golden Star Medals, three Ho Chi Minh Medals, and four Feat of Arms Orders.
In addition, 21 groups and individuals of the General Department of Technical Service received the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” and other noble awards.
On behalf of the CMC and MND, General Lich acknowledged the great achievements of the unit and underscored that the General Department of Technical Affairs should continue embracing the instructions and resolutions of the Party, the State, the CMC, and the MND on military-defense tasks with a focus on the resolutions of the 12th National Party Congress and 10th Military Party Congress as well as the Politburo's resolutions and conclusions on military-defense missions.
In addition, its affiliated units should preserve and promote tradition and combined strength, while continuing innovating and raising capabilities so as to give timely advice to the Party and the State.
Besides, he also asked the General Department of Technical Affairs to closely work with other relevant units and agencies to effectively implement projects and plans approved by the Politburo and the Prime Minister.
Moreover, the general department’s troops should master weapons, raise the awareness of traffic safety, and ensure safety for weaponry and equipment, he added.
Last but not least, the unit was requested to build a contingent of high-quality cadres and soldiers, while expanding international cooperation and attaching much importance to applying new technology to enhance the quality of repairing, maintaining, and storing weapons and equipment.
