GDP’s Director works with Military Region 5
PANO – A delegation of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its Director General Luong Cuong, paid a working visit to Military Region 5 on June 4.

At the working session, Lieutenant General Nguyen Long Cang, Commander of Military Region 5, and Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, Political Commissar of the military region, briefed the delegation on the unit’s task performance over the first six months and its plan for the remaining months of the year.
Accordingly, the military region’s Party Committee and Chain of Command have paid much attention to directing the regional armed forces to implement higher levels’ instructions and resolutions on military-defense missions. The region’s subordinate units maintained combat readiness at all levels, contributed to the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control effort, and enhanced external defense affairs. In addition, they successfully organized Party congresses at all levels towards the tenth Party Congress of the military region and implemented gratitude programs and mass mobilization.
Speaking at the event, General Cuong acknowledged and praised achievements of the military region, adding that they have overcome hardships, collaborated with local authorities, and fulfilled all assigned tasks with good results.
The GDP’s Director required the military region’s leadership and relevant units to continue collaborating with local forces to follow all situations and promptly deal with unexpected issues. Additionally, he urged them to successfully direct and hold Party congresses at all levels while building a firm whole-people defense posture and proactively responding to search and rescue missions.
