Dissemination on military-defense missions to be enhanced
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) under the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), chaired a meeting on February 10 for leaders of media agencies across the country on the beginning days of the lunar New Year.
Present at the event were Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Information; Truong Minh Tuan, Minister of Information and Communications; Thuan Huu, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) and Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper; Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, GDP's Deputy Director; Nguyen Duc Loi, General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA); and representatives of 80 civilian and military press and media agencies.

At the event, leaders of the media agencies expressed their thanks to the Ministry of National Defense and its relevant units for good collaboration with them in information dissemination about the army's traditions, military-defense missions, and the images of Uncle Ho's soldiers, among others. In addition, they hoped that the GDP will continue closely cooperating with central and local press agencies to enhance the information dissemination in the time to come, contributing to developing the army, reinforcing defense-security posture and defending the country in the current context.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the GDP's leaders, General Cuong applauded the media agencies' contribution towards the army's development and national defense and security missions. Over the past year, the GDP held numerous training courses to provide information relating to defense missions for reporters and journalists nationwide. In addition, the organ offered them hundreds of visits to military units, especially in border areas and on islands, contributing to providing precise and adequate information and orienting the public's opinions on crucial issues such as national sovereignty over sea and islands, he stressed.
The GDP's director also asked press agencies to continue promoting information dissemination on external affairs between the VPA and the other countries' armed forces and armies, contributing to improving the VPA's role and image in the world.
