The event saw the attendance of former State President and former Chairman of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) General Luong Cuong and GDP Chairman General Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Addressing the ceremony, Director of the Department of Political Education and Information Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Duc said that over more than 80 years of building, fighting and development, generations of the department’s officers, employees and soldiers have promoted revolutionary heroism, remained united, pro-active and creative, overcome difficulties, and fulfilled all assigned tasks, thereby building the glorious tradition of the department.

In recent years, the department has continued to renew political education, ideological management and public-opinion orientation; advised, directed and guided activities in military press and communications, emulation and commendation, culture and arts; and contributed to building a politically strong military.

In his remarks, General Nguyen Trong Nghia commended the department on its particularly outstanding achievements. As the military’s leading strategic advisory body on ideological and cultural affairs, the department closely followed assigned missions and battlefields during the resistance wars, providing timely advice and organizing dissemination and education activities, guiding thought, strengthening trust, and fostering the will and determination to fight among officers and soldiers.

In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland and fulfilling international duties, the department has continued to play a core role in building political and spiritual strength, contributing to building a politically strong military, firmly safeguarding the Party’s ideological front, and creating a foundation for improving the military’s overall quality and combat power.

Regarding its tasks in the coming years, General Nguyen Trong Nghia required the department and the whole military’s political education and information sector to strictly implement Politburo Resolution No.25-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2026, on the Strategy for ideological work in the new context; directives of Party General Secretary and President To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission.

Regarding the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of ideological and cultural work, the GDP leader requested pro-active efforts to integrate the study and practice of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, methodology and working style with the promotion of the qualities and cultural values of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new era. The military’s core and pioneering role in safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation should be promoted, while pro-active efforts should be made to combat and refute wrongful and hostile views, among others.

The general called for strong innovation in ideological work in the digital environment, emphasizing the need to take the initiative in mastering cyberspace and effectively applying AI.

He also stressed the need to build a contingent of officers with strong political stance, sharp thinking, professional and technological capabilities, and a spirit of innovation, with the courage to think, act, take responsibility, and embrace challenges. He emphasized the importance of building clean and strong Party organizations, maintaining solidarity, democracy, discipline, and order, and creating an environment for officers to develop and contribute.

Finally, General Nghia expressed his confidence that with its traditions, resolve, intellect and experience forged through practice, the department will continue to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks, contributing to building a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern Viet Nam People’s Army, building a strong and modern whole-people national defense, and firmly protecting the Fatherland in the new era of development.

At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title to the Department of Political Education and Information in recognition of its outstanding achievements during the period of national renewal.
