Speaking at the session, Lt. Gen. Tran Minh Duc, Chief of the General Department of Technical Services, held that the department and the whole-military technical sector have grasped all situations, implemented comprehensive measures to complete assigned missions. Particularly, the general department has coordinated with functional agencies to successfully organize a scientific seminar themed “70 years of defense cooperation of Vietnam-Soviet Union/Russia in military technical services.” In addition, the unit has directed the whole-military technical sector to ensure good conditions of weapons and equipment for combat readiness, training, and the “Sniper Frontier” and “Emergency Area” competitions of the International Army Games 2021 in Vietnam. The whole-military technical sector also provided technical supplies for the COVID-19 prevention and control in Southern localities.

In 2021, the general department implemented 55 researches to apply new technologies to the maintenance of weapons and equipment, while taking part in the Military Creative Youth Awards and achieving good results.
In 2022, the unit will continue embracing higher levels’ instructions and directives, promoting its role to provide timely recommendations for the Ministry of National Defense and the Central Military Commission in directing the whole-military technical sector.
Addressing the event, General Giang applauded achievements of the General Department of Technical Services over the past year, and at the same time required the unit to continue closely grasping all situations to implement their assigned missions effectively.

Additionally, the defense minister required the general department to take the lead in applying digital and technological advances to their task implementation, contributing to maintaining good conditions of weapons, materiel and vehicles. He required the unit to ensure weapons and equipment for training, exercises, combat readiness, and search and rescue tasks in 2022.
