It was part of activities on the sidelines of the scientific seminar themed “Dak To - Tan Canh Victory - Historical values and lessons learned.”
In the solemn atmosphere, a minute’s silence was held for heroes and martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of the Fatherland’s independence and freedom.
Fifty years ago, under the direction of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam People’s Army and people launched the North Central Highlands Campaign – one of three strategic offensives in 1972 on the Southern battlefield, to partly defeat the Vietnamization strategy of the U.S. invaders. In the campaign, the armed forces surrounded and attacked the enemy in Dak To base and Tan Canh townlet, liberating a large area of land and dozens of thousands of people.
