The report presented at the meeting affirmed that in August, the GS directed the whole military to effectively implement and complete assigned tasks. Military units strictly maintained combat readiness, closely monitored developments, provided timely advice and effectively handled situations, contributing to firmly safeguarding national territorial sovereignty. They also coordinated efforts to maintain security and public order nationwide.

A notable achievement was the completion of directives and guidance documents for exercises to be organized under the direction of the Ministry of National Defense in 2026. The GS also closely organized exercises on shifting the combat-readiness status of strategic-level agencies. It directed the Air Defense-Air Force Service to conduct live-fire and bombing exercises for its air force units safely, among others.
Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised outcomes obtained by agencies and units over the past time, stressing that as the world and regional situation continues to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner, the whole military should strictly maintain combat readiness, closely monitor developments, particularly in key areas, and provide timely advice and effectively handle situations.
Along with coordinating efforts to maintain security and public order nationwide, particularly during the celebrations of National Day on September 2, the GS will focus on conducting surprise combat-readiness inspections of a number of units and completing the new directive on handling air-defense combat situations. It will also continue to finalize the directive on handling combat situations to safeguard the sea and islands.
Patrols and controls should be enhanced to prevent illegal entry and exit and activities by hostile forces along border areas, at sea and on islands, and more.
The GS chief also noted that, in addition to strictly implementing measures to ensure flight safety and tightly managing unmanned aerial vehicles, units should promptly, effectively and lawfully deal with violations. They were also instructed to strengthen information control in cyberspace and ensure timely provision of communications, cryptographic command-and-control systems, topographic data and geographic information to military units nationwide.
The whole military should proactively monitor developments and provide timely recommendations and effective responses to incidents, natural disasters, search-and-rescue operations, pandemics and environmental disasters.
