Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh addresses the meeting.

The news was released at a meeting of the steering board for the defense ministry-level scientific seminar on April 4 under the chair of Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh.

Under the theme of “Dak To - Tan Canh Victory, historical values and lessons learned,” the seminar aims to affirm the significant role of the victory in the North Central Highlands campaign and the inevitable developments of the resistance war against U.S. invaders, contributing to the victory of the strategic offensive in 1972 and partly defeating the Vietnamization strategy.

Fifty years ago, under the direction of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, the Southern troops and people conducted the strategic offensive in 1972 to the outer defense system of the Saigon regime. From Kon Tum province, the armed forces surrounded and attacked the enemy in Dak To base and Tan Canh townlet, liberating a large area of land and dozens of thousands of people.
