General Ngo Xuan Lich, Deputy Secretary of the CMC and Minister of National Defense, chaired the meeting.
The CMC permanent members heard a report on MR 5's preparations and plans for organizing its Party congress, presented by Major General Trinh Dinh Thach, Secretary of the MR 5 Party Committee and Political Commissar.
In his concluding speech, General Lich highly valued the unit’s preparations for its Party congress. He also urged the unit to continue focusing on COVID-19 prevention and control and implementing its military-defense missions.

The draft Political Report and other documents for the tenth Party Congress of the unit have strictly followed the instructions of the Party Central Committee, the Standing Committee of the CMC, and the General Department of Politics. These documents will be presented at the tenth Party Congress of MR 5.
General Lich also asked the unit's Party Committee to note the comments and suggestions of functional agencies at the meeting to complete the documents and plans.
On the occasion, General Lich and the CMC's delegation also had a working session with leaders and local authorities in the areas where MR 5 units are stationed. At the meeting, local leaders informed the CMC permanent members of the outcomes of their military-defense task performances, and their proposals to improve the leadership of the units' task implementation in the coming time.
General Lich expressed his joy at the localities' achievements and thanked the local authorities and people for their support for the military and the armed forces over the past time.
He hoped that in the coming time, the local leaders will continue to embrace the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and closely cooperate with the MR 5 Command to promptly deal with arising problems, thus consolidating the whole people's defense posture in association with the people's security posture.
