At the ceremony, Director and Chief-editor of the People’s Army Publishing House Senior Colonel Pham Van Truong said that the two books were completed after more than three months of collection and compilation under the direction of the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army and the agreement of the general’s family.

The books were debuted on the occasion of the 78th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - 2022) and on the threshold of the 110th birth anniversary of General Nguyen Chi Thanh (January 1, 1914 - 2024).

The first book entitled “General Nguyen Chi Thanh - Collection” introduces the general’s writings in different periods. Through this book, readers could learn about General Nguyen Chi Thanh’s revolutionary career and his contribution to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the military.

In the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists for national salvation, with his sharp and profound strategic vision in terms of both politics and military, General Nguyen Chi Thanh early found out that the U.S. had changed its strategy. His finding helped us develop plans in a timely manner, reinforcing troops from the North for the Southern theater and determining combat principle.

The wise directions from General Nguyen Chi Thanh importantly contributed to the victories of troops and people in the South over the first and second strategic counter-attacks of the enemy in 1965-1966 and 1966-1967 dry season, putting the U.S. troops into a passive defense posture and bankrupting the U.S. imperialists’ "Local War" strategy.

The second book, “General Nguyen Chi Thanh in the heart of comrades and people,” gathers the general’s comrades and people’s articles about him in different forms, such as novels, poems, and memoirs. The book’s articles depict the portrait of General Nguyen Chi Thanh, a loyal communist, a prominent political and military activist of the Party, a person whose presence was seen in the most hotspots in the most difficult time of the revolution.

On behalf of General Nguyen Chi Thanh’s family, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh thanked the General Department of Political Affairs’ leadership for their sentiments and care, and the People’s Army Publishing House for its enthusiasm to debut the two books.
