PANO – A ceremony to start a project to detect and defuse bombs, mines and explosives was held on March 27th in the island district of Cat Hai, Hai Phong city.
The project, which is part of package A of the general project to build Hai Phong International Gateway Seaport, is implemented by a joint-venture among Corporation 319, Lung Lo 3 Company, Truong An Investment and Development Company and Van Tuong Investment and Construction Company.
Under the project, sappers are in charge of cleaning up 1020 ha, including 1000 ha of sea, which is considered being contaminated with bombs, mines, torpedoes and other explosives left by the past wars.
The project that costs some VND 120 billion is expected to be wrapped in 6 months’ time.
Hai Phong Gateway Seaport is a key project of the transport sector. In the first phase, two quays serving container vessels with capacity of up to 100,000 WT and seaport infrastructural subprojects like dyke systems, storing site and management facilities will be built.
According to officials, Hai Phong International Gateway Seaport will become the largest seaport in northern Vietnam, which will meet an increasing demand for transportation by sea.
