PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Deputy Minister of National Defence cum Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), offered incense to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and sent Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command on January 31st (or the first day of the Year of the Horse).
At the meeting, the general was briefed on the command’s combat readiness and preparations for its troops and Hanoians to celebrate the traditional Tet festival.

Over the recent days, especially on the Eve and the first day of the Lunar New Year, the unit’s troops well conducted due ceremonials and welcome and instruct people to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty highly valued the achievements by the command’s cadres and soldiers in serving foreign and domestic delegations to commemorate the late President.
Besides, he underlined that the command should continuously heighten its troops’ firm political stance and living standards, bring into play the mausoleum’s political and cultural values, and build the comprehensively strong unit.

* The same day, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty extended Tet wishes to troops and islanders on Truong Sa (Spratly) island district, Khanh Hoa province, via a video conference.
He urged the units stationed on Truong Sa islands to ensure an economical, happy and safe Tet holiday for their troops and islanders while heightening combat readiness.
* Previously, the Chief of VPA’s General Staff visited the Operations Department under the General Staff and inspected combat readiness of border posts of the Dien Bien, Dak Nong and Ca Mau provincial Border Commands in telephone calls.
