Border guard unit receives third-class Fatherland Protection Order
PANO - The Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command, on February 28, held a conference to review its five-year implementation of the Whole-People Border Festive Day, hailed border troops with achievements in building the firm border areas in the 2019-2024 period, marked its 20th founding anniversary, and received the third-class Fatherland Protection Order.
On December 20, 2003, Defense Minister issued decision No.304/2003/QD-BQP to establish the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command. The decision took effect from January 10, 2004. On February 24, 2004, the Vietnam Border Guard Command issued Decision No.1.104/QD-BTL to set January 10, 2004 as the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command’s foundation day.

Over the past 20 years of construction and development, the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command has made achievements in protecting national sovereignty. The whole province has demarcated 115.215/141.045km of borderline, reaching 81.69%. Since 2004, the unit has detected and addressed many cases of illegal border crossings, among others.
In addition, it regularly mobilizes local people to ensure social order in the area, protect national borderline and landmarks, while implementing livelihood models to help local people develop economy and reduce poverty.

In acknowledgement of the unit’s achievements over the past 20 years, especially in the 2018-2023 period, the State President presented the third-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command; the Vietnam Border Guard Command handed over certificates of merit to one collective and five individuals; while the Dak Nong provincial People’s Committee handed over certificates of merit to four collectives and 30 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of the Whole-People Border Festive Day and the building of border areas.
Authorized by the State President, Major General Nguyen Van Thien, Second-in-Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, presented the third-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command.
