Private Vu Thi Huyen Trang said that the lectures on the glorious history and tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army helped her understand more about missions and responsibilities of the Vietnamese troops. After one week, young female recruits like her knew about military regulations and disciplines, the daily routine of the Vietnamese soldiers, their manners and greetings.

Another new recruit, Private Do Thi Ngoc Anh, a native of Hung Yen province felt excited learning traditional songs of the Vietnam People’s Army. “This is the first time I have sung and known by heart those songs,” Ngoc Anh added.

Strong moves of female recruits |
The former student of Chu Van An College shared her secret reason of joining the army. She confided that it was her pride and love for the military uniform had urged her to leave academic environment for the army. As a result, Ngoc Anh got used to military environment and her unit’s training schedule quickly. The female recruit proudly said that her physical strength has been improved dramatically after a week-long training and she could learn about tidiness and disciplines.
Private Vo Thi Tham had different reason for joining the army. She said that the beautiful images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers who braved natural disasters to help central people inspired her to join and contribute to the army.

Young women getting used to military environment |
Considering training female recruits an important mission, Regiment 692 made thorough preparations for accommodation and training facilities. The unit also paid attention to selecting training officers with experiences in managing and training female soldiers.
Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thao, Commander of Regiment 692 of Division 301 under the Hanoi Capital Command said together with preparing good training plan, professional training officers, adequate training facilities, and the unit paid special attention to embracing thought and aspiration of troops, especially needy ones and daughters of wounded and sick soldiers, so as to timely encourage and assist them. On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the unit’s cadres held a cultural exchange exclusively for young women, Thao added.
Private Le Thi Phuong Anh from Hanoi said thanks to the timely support and encouragement of the unit’s leaders and her comrades, she overcame the first challenges to become a real soldier of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Second Lieutenant Kieu Manh Truong who directly trained female enlistees showed his confidence in this year’s training quality as almost all recruits hold vocational, college and university certificates and training officers have experiences in training female enlistees.
With young women’s strong determination, the unit’s good preparations and supports of leaders at all levels, we believe that those female recruits will overcome all difficulties to pursue their dreams and aspirations to contribute to the army.
