General Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, gave this advice at a meeting with female recruits, which was jointly organized by the Army Women’s Board and the Hanoi Capital Command on March 13.
The female recruits started their military services one week ago and are on training at Regiment 692 of Division 301 of the Hanoi Capital Command.

At the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thao, the Regiment’s Commander, held that the unit has embraced and implemented seriously all regulations and instructions on enlistment for 2018 from the higher levels. It has also coordinated closely with localities to receive recruits in an efficient and safe manner, filling them with excitement and assured feeling. Besides, all of the recruits meet requirements on political standard, morals and health. The recruits are now staffed for Company 15.
In his speech, General Nghia spoke highly of the Regiment’s achievements in training task and receiving recruits and emphasized that the Party’s, State’s, Central Military Commission’s and Ministry of National Defense’s leaderships have paid special attention to building a contingent of cadres and troops, including servicewomen.
Recalling the national history in which the image of Vietnamese women has always shone bright, General Nghia confirmed that women’s role has had presence in all fields in the cause of the national revolution and army-building. In the renewal process, the role of military servicewomen is more important and they have always been ready to undertake and fulfill all assigned missions.
General Nghia underscored that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have continued advocating enlistment of female enlistees for two years now, demonstrating the attention to gender equality and meeting requirements while integrating with the international community in the current period.
He mentioned that last year, Vietnam sent its first female officer to serve the UN peacekeeping force, showing Vietnam’s high sense of responsibility for the community. He added that Vietnam’s level-2 Field Hospital No.1 whose personnel include numerous female military doctors and nurses will take part in the UN peacekeeping operations in the near future.
General Nghia noted that doing military service is the great honor, pride and responsibility that the Party and State have assigned the recruits.
In a close atmosphere, the female recruits expressed their great honor and pride to be officially enlisted in the heroic People’s Army of Vietnam.
