At the event, Colonel Dinh Quoc Hung, Head of the Army Youth Board, Deputy Chairman of the Jury for the "Whole-Army Outstanding Young Faces" Award, briefed participants on the achievements of the army’s youth movements over the past years. Of note is the fact that many outstanding individuals and groups emerged from the army’s youth movement. They come from various walks of life such as military training, scientific research, sports, production, art and so on. They truly are outstanding examples because of their significant contributions to the national construction and development. In 2017, nearly 2,000 military outstanding young faces were honored at grassroots level while 315 others were awarded by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
10 individuals out of 33 whole-army nominees were chosen for the “Whole-Army Outstanding Young Faces” Award while another 12 individuals were selected for the “Whole-Army Promising Young Faces” Award.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Cuong highly applauded and congratulated the awardees. He stressed that the army’s youth is a major force of each military unit, who is always in the vanguard of task performance.
In order to meet the increasingly requirements of the national defense task, he urged the army’s youths to continue embracing higher levels’ instructions and directives, actively studying to extend knowledge in their lifetime, mastering new weapons and equipment, and preventing a degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle, “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”.
To outstanding young faces, General Cuong hoped they would continue bringing into play their talent and furthering contribution to the army’s youth movement.
He also affirmed that leaders of the Defense Ministry and relevant agencies would always create favorable conditions for young troops to develop. At the end of the meeting, General Cuong handed over the promotion decisions and gifts to military outstanding and promising young faces.
