Meanwhile, both sides should promote experience sharing in education work to raise young officers’ political stance, contributing to increasing mutual understanding and trust; and bringing the relations between the two militaries to become more close-knit for the benefit and development of each country.

For his part, General Pov Heng, Second-in-command of the Army and Commander of MR4, stated that up to now, MR4 has worked with the Vietnamese side to search, collect and repatriate nearly 3,000 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers who sacrificed in wartime in Cambodia, affirming that the military region would continue to support Vietnam in the task in the time to come to obtain the highest results.

General Pov Heng evaluated the Vietnam-Cambodia Young Officer Exchange Program as the clearest evidence of the defense cooperation program between the two countries, showing the attention and trust of leaders of the two defense ministries for young generations. The event offered an opportunity for young Vietnamese and Cambodian officers to exchange and share experience, as well as recall the glorious and heroic traditions of both nations.

In the time to come, he required the two sides to join hands in preserving and cultivating the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia for the benefit of the people in the two countries, and for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Within the framework of the exchange program, the Vietnamese delegation also visited the Army Academy, the Army Training Center, Front 479, and participated in a volleyball friendly match, to name but a few.
