The visit aims to maintain high-level engagement and further strengthen the growing, practical, and effective friendship between the two countries and their militaries, towards the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic ties (December 30, 1955 - 2025). It also provides an opportunity for both sides to exchange views and agree on future directions for bilateral defense cooperation.

Over the past time, the Vietnam-Indonesia relations have seen comprehensive development. Notably, the elevation of their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Indonesia in March this year was a historic milestone. The relations have also demonstrated the strong political will of both countries to build a more reliable, practical, and effective partnership, with defense and security cooperation being key pillars.

Along with the positive development in bilateral ties, Vietnam-Indonesia defense cooperation has obtained significant results in many areas, especially in delegation exchanges at all levels; effective maintenance of consultation and dialogue mechanisms; cooperation in training and defense industry; collaboration among arms and services; as well as coordination and mutual support in multilateral forums and mechanisms.
