Vietnamese, Singaporean Naval chiefs hold bilateral meeting
PANO – Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN), Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, met with his Singaporean counterpart in Singapore on May 14 as the country is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its navy.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese Naval Commander thanked the host for facilitating the VPN’ participation in multilateral regional and international forums; inviting Vietnamese naval officers to attend conferences, training courses, and exercises organized by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN); and organizing visits of its naval ships to Vietnam’s ports, helping the naval forces of the two countries strengthen trust and mutual understanding.
To promote cooperation between the two navies, the Vietnamese commander suggested that the two navies should increase frequency of visits at all levels to share experiences in fields of mutual concern; continuing activities to realize the procedures of submarine rescue signed by the two navies in April 2016; assisting the VPN’s officers in joining command and staff courses; and maintaining the mechanism of the bilateral working group.

Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han thanked his Vietnamese counterpart for attending the first-ever International Maritime Review held by the RSN and the International Maritime Defense Exhibition, and dispatching ships to attend activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the RSN.
Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han also appreciated the cooperation between the two navies and affirmed to continue supporting and promoting this cooperation in the coming time.
