Vietnamese naval contingent participates in international maritime security symposium
PANO - Within the framework of the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK-5), the International Maritime Security Symposium took place on February 17 with the participation of the Indonesian Defense Minister, chiefs of navies, and head delegates of navies of ASEAN members and countries around the world.
The event was chaired by Chief of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali. Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy, attended the event.
With the theme “Addressing Maritime Security Challenges through Cooperation and Technology,” the symposium served as an opportunity for the navies of ASEAN countries and others worldwide to share experience to strengthen the role of the naval force in maintaining maritime security, safety, and responding to natural disasters.

During the event, delegates focused on key topics such as the development of the global strategic environment and its impact on maritime security, security challenges in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and the use of information technology in maritime security. The discussions aimed to seek solutions to enhancing cooperation and coordination among naval forces to address common maritime security challenges and maintain peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
After the symposium, Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung and Vietnamese Defense Attaché to Indonesia Senior Colonel Nguyen Tuan Duc visited and encouraged Ship 09’s crew-members and members of the Vietnamese contingent.

Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung congratulated the contingent and the crew-members of Ship 09 on safely crossing over 1,500 nautical miles to participate in the MNEK-5. The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy hoped that the delegation would continue to stay united and overcome all challenges to successfully complete contents in the exercise to contribute to affirming the position of the Vietnam People's Navy in the international arena.

Also on the day, the officers and sailors of Ship 09 participated in various sidelines activities, including visiting a maritime exhibition, attending a music exchange program, and engaging in sports activities on Bali Island.
