The Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo, hosted by the Indonesian Navy, has been held biennially since 2014 with the aim of strengthening friendship, building trust, and enhancing collaboration capability among participating navies in addressing maritime security issues.

The MNEK-5 is expected to last for 7 days from February 16 to 22, with the theme "Readiness and Cooperation for Peace." It will focus on maritime peacekeeping operations (MPKO) and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR).

The exercise will include activities, such as an international fleet review, exercises at port, seminars on maritime security, community healthcare, cultural and artistic activities, environmental protection, and field-training drills at sea, among others. The exercise area will cover locations on land and in the waters of Bali Island, Indonesia.

This is the fifth time the Vietnam People's Navy has participated in the exercise with other navies. The Vietnamese delegation includes agencies from the Ministry of National Defense, the Command of the Naval Service, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Naval Region 2, Brigade 171, and Ship 09.

According to the organizing panel, the participating forces in the exercise’s this year include 38 ships, 20 aircraft from the Indonesian Navy and 15 partner countries' navies.
