At the meeting

Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and other representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, were also present at the meeting.

At the meeting, General Chiem briefed staff at the Vietnamese Embassy on outcomes of its working visit to Australia. He highlighted the handover of the project on digitalizing a database related to fallen Vietnamese soldiers during the anti-American resistance war to the Office of the National Steering Board for the Search, Collection, and Identification of War Martyrs’ Remains. He also emphasized the project’s practical significance in promoting the search and collection of war martyrs’ remains.

General Chiem  hoped that the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Ngo Huong Nam would ask the Australian government and other related departments to pay more attention to sharing information and providing documents related to Vietnamese troops who died or went missing in action in the war to better serve and meet the expectations of fallen soldiers’ families.

For his part, Ambassador Nam congratulated the delegation on its outcomes and underlined that the successful visit has importantly contributed to expanding the Vietnam-Australia strategic partnership.
