Vietnamese, Lao militaries boost finance cooperation
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy-Defense Minister, hosted a reception for Colonel Sisavan Kommamuong, Deputy-Director of the Department of Planning and Finance under the Lao Defense Ministry.
At the reception on June 26 at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, General Don highly appreciated the visit and emphasized that the Party, State, people and military of Vietnam have always attached importance to, preserved and developed the special solidarity with the Lao Party, State, people and military.
The Vietnamese Deputy-Defense Minister affirmed that the two countries’ defense ties have developed in an intensive, practical and effective manner in all fields, contributing to strengthening each country’s security, politics and to building the military which is strong enough to firmly defend the national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Vietnamese Deputy-Defense Minister took this chance to thank the Lao Party, State, people and military for their support and assistance for Vietnamese search and collection teams to search, gather and repatriate remains of volunteer Vietnamese troops and specialists who had sacrificed their lives, serving international duty in Laos.
For his part, Colonel Sisavan Kommamuong thanked the host for the reception and informed him about the outcomes of his meeting with the Department of Finance under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. Accordingly, they completed financial clearing transactions and payment, exchanged experiences in finance and discussed cooperation contents in the time to come.
The Lao officer asked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to ensure budget for the implementation of planned contents, training financial personnel and assistance to the Lao People’s Army.
Speaking highly of the aforementioned working session, General Don said that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense’s leaders have always created favorable conditions for the two military financial sectors to cooperate effectively.
