Vietnamese and Singaporean Navies’ 8th Working Group Meeting
PANO – The 8th Working Group Meeting of the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy was held virtually on June 4.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy Naval Captain Dam Xuan Tuan and the Singaporean mission, headed by Deputy Director of Operation Department of the Republic of Singapore Navy Naval Captain Tay Choong Hern attended the meeting.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Captain Tuan emphasized that the cooperation between the two navies has been expanded and reaped positive results.
He said despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides could still conduct various cooperation activities and exchanges, contributing to strengthening their solidarity.
For his part, Captain Tay Choong Hern expressed his delight at the fruitful development of the two navies amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He highly appreciated the Vietnam People’s Navy for successfully hosting the 14th ASEAN Navy Chiefs' Meeting (ANCM-14) last year and congratulated the Vietnamese Navy on the 66th anniversary of its foundation day.
Captain Tay Choong Hern also hoped to further strengthen cooperation between the two navies in the coming time.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the regional maritime security situation over the last year and the implementation of cooperation contents approved at the 7th Working Group Meeting by the two navies in May 2019 and discussed future cooperation contents.
On the occasion, the Singaporean side highly appreciated the Vietnam People’s Navy for sending highly qualified officers to work at the Republic of Singapore Navy’s Information Fusion Centre (IFC).

He affirmed that this has demonstrated the Vietnamese Navy’s commitment to ensuring maritime security in the region.
