At the talks, Gen. Cuong expressed his delight at the comprehensive, substantive, and effective cooperation between the two defense ministries. The Vietnamese and Lao militaries have worked together to carry out many military, defense, and foreign affairs tasks in an active, effectively, in-depth, and substantive manner and in accordance with the annual cooperation plan. The defense ties continue to affirm its position as one of the important pillars in the Vietnam-Laos bilateral relationship and the cooperation between military regions, border guard, and border protection forces of the two countries is a bright spot.

Gen. Vongkham Phommakone thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for supporting and coordinating with the Lao Defense Ministry to carry out such meaningful activities as joint military medicine, search, and rescue exercise; conducting dissemination to mobilize people to well implement the guidelines, policies, and law of the two parties and states. The two sides have effectively implemented twinning activities among villages; assisted people in border areas in hunger elimination, poverty reduction, and socio-economic and cultural development; organized free healthcare programs and other social activities, contributing to building the shared borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
In the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to comprehensively and effectively implement the cooperation plan between the two defense ministries in 2024, focusing on such key areas as friendship exchanges, boosting cooperation and information exchange between the border protection forces of the two countries, joint patrols, and prevention of illegal migration to ensure security and safety in the border areas of the two countries.
Earlier, the two delegations offered incense in commemoration of heroic martyrs at the Memorial Site of Regiment 52 Tay Tien in Moc Chau district.
