A meeting to draw experience held before the closing ceremony

Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Navy Senior Captain Nguyen Van Ngan and Commander of Naval Base 4 of the Indonesian Navy Rear Admiral Kemas M. Ikhwan Madani co-chaired the closing ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the head of the Vietnamese naval delegation Nguyen Van Ngan evaluated that after six days, the two navies cooperated and successfully conducted the joint exercise, fulfilling all contents in line with the agreement on standard procedures for joint exercise between the two navies signed by the two sides. 

During activities within the exchange and exercise, the two navies exchanged and learnt valuable professional experience and raised their ability to coordinate and synergize in dealing with common maritime security challenges. They also contributed to maintaining peace and stability and promoting cooperation between forces along the shared sea border of the two countries and further tightening the friendship and cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia in general and their militaries and navies in particular.

For his part, Rear Admiral Kemas M. Ikhwan Madani congratulated the two delegations on the successful joint exercise and believed that the freshly-ended activities will help Vietnamese and Indonesian Navies acquire more experience to organize next exercises more effectively.

Rear Admiral Kemas M. Ikhwan Madani emphasized that the successful joint exercise, including the effective coordination between the two naval forces at sea, will be an important step for cooperation of the two navies in the future. The Commander of Naval Base 4 appreciated the good coordination and synergy between naval forces of the two countries and strongly believed that experience learnt from the exercise will contribute to raising their troops’ professional competence.

CODEX 22B-I taking place from August 29 to September 3 was the first joint exercise between the Vietnam People’s Navy and Indonesian Navy. This year’s event saw the participation of Frigate 012-Ly Thai To of the Vietnam People’s Navy and KRI Bung Tomo-357 and helicopter HS1311 of the Indonesian Navy. 

The exercise included three stages. In the first stage, the Vietnamese delegation was updated on safety regulations and situation in Butam city. Meetings between officers in charge of exercise contents before the exercise and opening ceremony were held.

The second stage included activities, such as formation movement, supply at sea, flag signal, lamp signal, building up the formation for aerial photography, settlement of steering problems, and search and rescue at sea. In the final stage, participating troops attended sports exchange and a banquet and met to draw experience. The closing ceremony was also in this stage.
