The Vietnamese side sent ships CSB 8004 and CSB 8003, commanded by Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 1 Command Senior Colonel Luong Cao Khai, to join the patrol.

The Chinese side deployed Ships 4302 and 4301, headed by Senior Colonel Wu Youlin, Deputy Director of the Nanhai Division under the China Coast Guard, as the military commanding officer.

During this operation, the Vietnamese and Chinese ships patrolled 13 points, from the 21st to the 9th points) on the Gulf of Tonkin demarcation line. Throughout the patrol, both sides carried out activities such as: exchanging welcome signals; formal greetings at sea; inspecting and monitoring some fishing vessels operating in the waters near the delimitation line; and conducting joint maritime search and rescue drills.

At the working session to review the patrol held on Chinese ship 4302, both sides expressed satisfaction that during the three-day patrol, the Vietnam and China Coast Guards had worked together, overcome challenges, and successfully completed the patrol activities with absolute safety. Sr. Col. Wu Youlin highly praised the coordination between the two forces and their effective implementation of all agreed-upon plans. In particular, he emphasized that the results of the joint search and rescue drill at sea laid a solid foundation for enhancing future cooperation in joint missions.

Both sides expressed confidence that the success of this joint patrol will serve as a positive premise for future cooperation activities between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the China Coast Guard.
