The vessels’ activities were in the framework of the ninth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, and the 38th joint patrol with their peers from Chinese navies.

In China, the frigates anchored at Beihai Military Port in Beihai city, Guangxi province. During their stay in the city, the Vietnamese delegation met with the Chinese patrol team to agree on the joint patrol, visited a Chinese vessel, and had a sport exchange with Chinese naval troops.

After the exchange activities, Vietnamese frigates left Beihai Military Port for a joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin with missile frigates 628 and 630 of the Chinese Navy. During the patrol, they practiced a light signal exchange, and maritime search and rescue operations.

Also in their voyages, frigates 015 and 016 carried out a training session to improve command and coordination capability, mastery of weapons and equipment, and better handle situations emerging at sea.

An overview of the meeting

In a review meeting after arriving home, head delegate Senior Captain Do Minh, Second-in-Command of the Naval Region 4 Command, underlined the success of the exchange program and the joint patrol, saying that they met the set goals, ensuring absolute safety and leaving a deep impression on the Chinese Navy. This contributed to the overall success of the freshly-ended ninth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.
