Since 1973, the bilateral relations have been developing. Especially, the naval cooperation has been promoted in many fields, including training contents. The two navies reached mutual understanding and trust.

Via various forums such as the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting or the bilateral naval consultation mechanism, both sides have had the opportunity to further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two navies. These are important forums for the two sides to share experience, promote understanding so as to contribute to peace, prosperity in the region.

The visit will contribute to tightening the bilateral naval relations, he added.

Regarding the prospects for the naval cooperation, the Malaysian naval officer believed that before the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Malaysia diplomatic ties in 2023, the naval cooperation would reach important milestones, contributing to the bilateral defense cooperation and external relations.

The relationship between the two navies has achieved good results thanks to their cooperation at sea. The two naval forces have conducted external relations at sea, actively contributing to the Vietnam-Malaysia relations. He expressed his belief that the naval cooperation would see new achievements in the next 50 years and more.

In his position, he hoped that the two navies would further promote cooperation, especially in the field of officer exchange and training. There are many other fields that the two navies can promote. He suggested Vietnam send military cadets to Malaysia to study and vice versa.

Sharing his impression of the visit of the Vietnamese naval delegation, Rear Admiral Dato Anuar bin Mohamed hoped they had a good time in his country. They also shared operations and training at sailing ship.

“I hope all cadets will have more opportunities to study and train on sailing ships. However, not all navies of ASEAN countries have sailing ships. The Malaysian Navy has one, the KLD Tunas Samudera. We hope that ASEAN countries can promote cooperation, especially in training and education on sailing ships. Hopefully in the coming years, the sailing ship of the Royal Malaysian Navy can visit Vietnam,” said Rear Admiral Dato Anuar bin Mohamed.
