Together with General Tan, senior military leaders from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, some ASEAN member states, Timor Leste, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Fiji, the U.K., the U.S., Canada, Chile, Colombia, France and Peru attended the three-day CHOD 2022.

The theme for this year’s conference was “Promoting the Rules-Based Order in the Indo-Pacific.”

During the conference which opened on July 25, General Tan participated in discussions on climate change and security implications for the Indo-Pacific, advanced technologies and impacts on Indo-Pacific security, and impacts of current security challenges on the Indo-Pacific.

On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese general had bilateral meetings with other head delegates, namely Admiral John C. Aquilino, Chief of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command; Lt. Gen. Ganzorig Dovchinsuren, Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces; and General Angus J. Campbell, Chief of the Australian Defense Force.

CHOD is an annual event co-hosted by the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command since 1998 with the aim of boosting mutual understanding and cooperation among defense chiefs and militaries of countries in the Indo-Pacific.
