Moreover, Vietnam has been active in training personnel and acquiring equipment for the level-2 field hospital and the engineering company so that they are now ready to be deployed to any UN peacekeeping missions on request.
The host also underscored that UN experts’ support in training Vietnamese instructors in peacekeeping operations showed that UN has highly valued Vietnam’s active involvement in UN peacekeeping operations over the past time.
Through the training course, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center will gain more valuable experiences in training and preparing forces for UN peacekeeping missions in the future.
Earlier the same day, a training course for Vietnamese instructors in UN peacekeeping operations opened in Hanoi. It aims to provide knowledge, methods, and skills related to UN peacekeeping operations for Vietnamese officers.
Particularly, the trainees are taught how to conduct personnel training; to manage UN peacekeeping agencies and units and their operations; to make plans and organize pre-deployment training courses for individuals and units to participate in UN peacekeeping operations.
It is the first time UN experts have directly trained Vietnamese officers in the country.
Senior Colonel Hoang Kim Phung, Head of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center said that the success of this course would help Vietnam better prepare for dispatching personnel to UN peacekeeping missions.
