At the meeting, the Vietnamese general emphasized that Vietnam - Russia defense cooperation is a key pillar in the overall bilateral relationship. He highly appreciated the notable outcomes of the cooperation across various fields. He highlighted delegation exchanges, particularly high level ones; effective maintenance of key cooperation mechanisms; cooperation in education and training; service-to-service collaboration and cooperation between the two defense ministries’ affiliates; and scientific research within the framework of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center.
The Russian defense leader affirmed that the Ministry of Defense of Russia always values and is willing to further promote defense ties with Vietnam in a deeper, more substantive, and more effective manner.

He highly valued Vietnam’s increasingly important role and position in the region, as well as the country’s active contributions to multilateral defense cooperation mechanisms.
During the meeting, both the host and guest agreed to continue effectively implementing cooperation contents, focusing on delegation exchanges at all levels, training, scientific research, technology transfer and application within the framework of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center; and the development and signing of cooperation documents based on the needs and interests of each side.
On this occasion, Gen. Son invited his host and other leaders of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and defense enterprises to attend and exhibit products at the Vietnam Defense Expo 2026, scheduled to take place in December this year.

On the same day, Gen. Son laid a wreath at the Monument to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who participated in defending Moscow during the Great Patriotic War; visited the Office of the Vietnam Defense Attaché in Russia; and met with representatives of Vietnamese military cadets studying in Moscow.
