An overview of the reception |
At the meeting, Director General of the center Major General Dang Hong Trien stated that the center is an international scientific and technological cooperation institution under the leadership and direction of the Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee (ICC) for the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center. The center’s scientific activities focus on three main areas, namely tropical materials, tropical ecology, and tropical biomedicine. At present, the two sides are jointly implementing 47 projects under the scientific research and application program for the 2025-2029 period, with the participation of more than 40 Russian organizations.

According to Gen. Trien, the center is a unique bilateral cooperation model and carries symbolic significance within the traditional relations and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. He emphasized that its activities have consistently received attention and support from the governments, parliaments, the Russian Embassy in Vietnam, and ministries and sectors of both countries.
Speaking at the event, Deputy First Speaker Andrey Vladimirovich Yatskin noted that during this visit, the Russian delegation toured several localities in Vietnam and visited the Vietnam Military History Museum where memories of the time-honored friendship between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, and the Russian Federation are being preserved. He emphasized that the center is also a symbol of deep cooperation between the two sides, especially in science and technology.

The Russian official expressed satisfaction of witnessing the continuous, substantive, and effective development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. He stressed the need for both sides to further promote and enhance cooperation across all fields, particularly in scientific research, where the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center stands as an exemplary model.
He added that after the visit, he would report in full to Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko on the outcomes of cooperation with Vietnam, including scientific research collaboration at the center.

While in the center, the Deputy First Speaker toured its hall of fame, signed the guest book, and visited the laboratory and the mobile testing vehicle sponsored by the Russian Federation.
