Vietnam, Laos conduct bilateral border patrol
PANO - On March 24, My Ly Border Post under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command and Border Guard Company 217 under the Huaphanh provincial Military Command of Laos conducted a bilateral patrol.

The activity aimed to enhance the management and protection of territorial sovereignty and national border security, while consolidating the special solidarity and friendship between the border protection forces of the two countries.
My Ly Border Post’s patrol team was led by Lieutenant Colonel Bui Hong Manh, Deputy Political Commissar, while the Lao counterpart team was headed by Major May Vieng, Company Officer Commanding. The two sides patrolled a 3km border section from Marker 397 to Pillar 397/1 (1).
Overcoming complex and rugged terrain, the joint force inspected the current status of the national border marker and pillar. Alongside the patrol, the two units also disseminated legal information, reminding border residents to strictly abide by border management laws and refrain from illegal farming, settlement, and border crossing. Furthermore, both sides exchanged information on local political security and social order, agreeing on coordinated measures to handle any arising situations.
The patrol took place in an atmosphere of solidarity, mutual trust, and understanding. The smooth coordination and high sense of responsibility shown by officers and soldiers from both sides contributed to improving the efficiency of border management and protection task.
Evaluating the patrol, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Hong Manh stated that the activity further affirmed the effectiveness of the coordination mechanism between the Vietnamese and Lao border protection forces, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order along the shared border. He added that the joint patrol also served as an opportunity to strengthen the solidarity and attachment between troops of both sides, thereby nurturing the enduring, special, and traditional Vietnam-Laos friendship.
